From the $10,000 originally thought, the price has dropped significantly after some research and cost cutting. The whole road trip can now be achieved (from our calculations) for a measly $1,500. This money, which we already have btw, means the trip is definitely going to happen.
Some of the price cutting included finding a more efficient car. We went from a 24 mpg car to a 36 mpg car, effectively cutting out $400 in fuel costs. Instead of motels/ hotels, we will be staying in hostels around the country. Food, instead of grocery stores, will be bought in bulk from Costco.
A more detailed price breakdown and time breakdown to come.
